Mastopexy without prosthesis RC280064
Description of the case before and after
Mastopexy without prostheses
It's very common for the breasts to sag and look empty after pregnancy.
Excess skin is often the cause of this appearance and the only solution is Mastopexy. A Mastopexy is a surgery that removes excess skin from the breast, improving its appearance, placing the breast higher on the chest, improving the proportion between the areola and the size of the breast and, in a way, improving a woman's self-esteem.
This surgery is performed under general anaesthesia.
The patient returns home the day after surgery and recovery is usually painless and quick. In cases where there is sufficient breast tissue, breast implants are not necessary, as in this case.
It even looks like the breast has got a bit bigger, but that's just an appearance, because only the excess skin has been removed and the mammary gland has been treated so that it is fixed to the chest in a higher position (and so it should fall less over the years) and so that the gland itself serves to increase the size of the breast (what is known as an "autoprosthesis").
There are various techniques, with different types of scars. In this case, an "inverted T" scar was created, i.e. a scar around the areola, a vertical scar and a horizontal scar.
With the three scars, you can better control the amount of skin to be removed and give the breast a rounded shape, without the need for scars that extend into the chest (outside the breast). Of the three scars, the most visible is the vertical scar, but curiously, it's the one that usually heals the most imperceptibly. The horizontal scar is positioned so that it is not directly visible and the scar around the areola is confused with the limits of the areola itself.
To ensure the best possible outcome for the scars, patients are followed up at regular intervals, according to each patient's needs.
The final look will always depend on the surgical technique, the quality of the skin and post-operative care.
