Silicone implants are placed through a small incision between the two buttocks. The implants are placed between the buttock muscles so that they are more protected and the buttocks look natural. They are best suited to slim patients who don't have enough fat to use for buttock augmentation.
Fat transfer (lipofilling, liposculpture or lipograft) is carried out through very small incisions (less than 1 cm) that are hidden between the two buttocks and in the groove under the buttocks. Firstly, liposuction is performed to remove fat from unwanted areas, then the fat is treated (this can be done in various ways: decantation, centrifugation or washing) and finally it is transferred (injected) into the buttocks to improve or accentuate their contour.
Buttock augmentation can be performed in different ways: with silicone implants, with fat transfer or with a combination of implants and fat. Each situation must be analysed individually to decide on the best technique.
This surgery is performed under general anaesthesia or epidural anaesthesia. The surgery can take between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the areas being liposuction. The usual hospitalisation period is 24 hours. It may be 48 hours in the case of liposuction involve various areas of the body.
Scars
Like any surgery, buttock plastic surgery cannot be performed without scars.

Recovery:
The patient is usually discharged the day after surgery and can recover in the comfort of their own home. Only in cases where a large volume of liposuction is performed may more days of hospitalisation be necessary (usually 2 days).
It is therefore advisable to wear compression garments (post-surgical girdles) for a period of 1 to 2 months to avoid oedema ("swelling") and ecchymoses ("bruising").
It is also advisable to carry out manual lymphatic drainage to speed up recovery, improve comfort and reduce oedema and fibrosis. A lymphatic drainage should start 2-3 days after surgery. We recommend daily treatments in the first week, 3 treatments in the second week and 1 treatment in the following weeks.
In the case of buttock augmentation with prostheses, it is recommended that you avoid sitting and putting pressure on the operated area for 1 week. You can sit down, but you must always lean on your thighs and not on your buttocks.
All patients are screened for the risk of thrombosis before surgery and prevented from thrombosis with the appropriate measures before, during and after surgery. It is also recommended that patients move early.

Resumption of activity / routine after surgery
The return to daily routine depends on the characteristics of the patient, the type of activity and the extent of the abdominal procedure, which is usually the one with the longest recovery.
All patients are advised to walk early, preferably the day after surgery. Most return to work 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure, although a period of 2 months is recommended before resuming more intense physical exercise.
It is therefore important to get up early and move around to help reduce oedema and reduce the risk of thrombosis.
