Mastopexy with implants RC6220033
Description of the case before and after
Mastopexy with prostheses
This young woman became a mum at a very young age. After her pregnancy, she lost breast volume and decided to have breast implants to recover the lost volume. The implants were placed in front of the muscle. In these situations, it's more common for the breast to sag more quickly because the skin has already sagged and can't support the weight of the prosthesis.
Some time after the surgery, the breast began to sag and looked as you can see in the pre-surgery images. The breasts appear to be sagging, but what they actually have is a pseudo-ptosis, i.e. the nipple is pointing forwards, but there is an exaggerated curvature in the lower part of the breast, which gives the illusion that the breast is sagging.
The treatment of ptosis or pseudoptosis is the mastopexy (removal of excess skin). In addition, as the lady was also thin, some folds in the prosthesis were palpable. This situation is called rippling. It doesn't cause any problems for the woman's health. It's just uncomfortable because it can be felt and noticed through the skin. To treat this situation, the implants were moved to the plane behind the muscle. As well as treating the rippling, it helps to support the implant, helping the breast not to sag so quickly.
The images show the result, eight months after the lady underwent a prosthesis change to the back of the muscle and mastopexy to remove excess skin. This is a complex surgery because replacing the prosthesis behind the muscle requires internal reconstruction so that the breast tissue is reconnected to the muscle. Round, high-profile, nano-textured, 315cc prostheses were used.
