Description of the case before and after
Sometimes women seek plastic surgery to increase the size of their breasts.
But it's not always enough to undergo Breast Augmentationto achieve the desired result. The preoperative consultation is essential for the plastic surgeon to analyse the size and shape of the breast. It is very common to identify asymmetries (differences) between the two breasts (even the patient herself is often able to identify them); but it is less common to identify changes in the shape of the breast, such as those that are characteristic of the TUBEROUS BREAST.
In this case, as well as a slight asymmetry, the patient had atrophy of the innermost and lower part of both breasts and a slightly tapered/tubular breast shape. The surgery included the fitting of breast prostheses and the treatment of these changes to the shape of the breast.
You need to be familiar with various techniques in order to know which treatment is most suitable for the different alterations that the Tuberous Breast can present. If only breast implants were fitted without treating the mammary gland, the breasts would be larger, but the shape would be deformed, even more tubular.
Round breast implants of different sizes (295cc on the right and 255cc on the left) were used to compensate for the asymmetry. The prostheses were placed through the areola.
The surgery was performed under general anaesthesia. The patient returned home the day after the surgery.
